Meet Jules the Doula

jules the doula-headshotI am a holistic health practitioner offering Doula Services, Placenta Encapsulation, Pre-Natal Massage, Usui Reiki Master “Energy Work”, Oneness Blessings, and Reflexology.

In the past, I have dedicated time to those in need. This led me to provide Reiki and Reflexology at the Virginia Piper Cancer Center, as well as the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS. Working alongside these courageous individuals has enriched my life and made me grateful for my blessings.

My doula education was through Dona International. The mission of DONA International is to promote high-quality birth and postpartum support by setting the standard for the doula profession through evidence-based training and certification for doulas of diverse backgrounds. I suggest all women who are considering hiring a doula to check out the Dona International website, or at least consider these questions when interviewing a prospective doula.

Serving as a doula is a passion that fulfills my spirit. Helping women in the midst of bringing miracles into our world is very gratifying.

The word doula is a Greek word meaning “women’s servant”. Women have been serving others in childbirth for many centuries and have proven that support from another woman has a positive impact on the labor process.

I recognize childbirth as key life experience in a woman’s life and consider it a blessing to be a part of this passage. As a doula, I embrace each woman’s personal dream birth and support her before, during, and after with the emotional and physical assistance needed. Additionally, I offer education with today’s options and choices so she can make the best decisions along her journey.
